18th June till the 5th of July - Villa Duflot Art in a bar on a barrel… Click to enlarge From the 18th June till the 5th of July at the Villa Duflot, (just off the Albert Donnezan roundabout, Auchan exit north Perpignan ) 04 68 56 67 67 a most unusual exhibition is on show in the bar. Twenty four oak wine barrels from the “Wine and Art Tour” of the well known Chateau Haut Pech are placed around bar, the entrance to the restaurant and the garden. Some have been decorated by artists whose names you may recognise, some by young and comparatively unknown painters, sculptors as well as chefs and grand names in the world of gastronomy. All are highly innovative, original and fun. When Gérard Bru bought Chateau Haut Pech north of Montpellier in the 80’s, he found a hundred old Bordeaux barrels in the cave. He had the idea of creating a collection out of them by asking artists to decorate each one in their own uniquely typical style. Hervé di Rosa was the first to sign in 2001. Now the collection numbers one hundred and is still growing. The current exhibition adds to the pleasure of a meal or a drink in the green and pleasantly artistic oasis of Villa Duflot. Entrance is free.
