You may already know that the French government changed the laws last year regarding exoneration of Capital Gains Tax, the tax applicable to the amount of profit you make when you sell a property.  This remains at 19%, but reduces to 6% if you’ve had your property for more than 6 years, 4% after 21 years and nothing after 22 years!

Previously, you had a 30-year wait.

However, did you know that anybody SELLING property that is not their primary principal residence between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 is entitled to an additional temporary discount of 25%? The discount applies to both capital gains tax and the social charges, particularly beneficial to those ‘en activite’).
