Dog Show in Ceret
Five different doggy competitions (troupeaux, agility, flyball, mondioring..) children’s village, clown, face painting, circus school, games.......
Report on last year’s show
Down at the Stade Font Calde in Ceret, on Sunday (18th May), there was a pretty sight for all dog-lovers: a large arena marked out on the lush grass, and step-ladders and tunnels and hanging tyres dotted round the ’race-track’ inside. Yes! It was time for the Dog Agility class.
The little spaniel was on his marks, but the long-haired sheep-dog was a hard act to follow. Could his athletic owner spur him to a winning round? Amid great applause, he flew round the course, his owner keeping up the pace, but no! Such disappointment when he failed to get even one paw on to the red mark at the end of the see-saw .... disqualification stared him in the face. Rewarded by his owner, regardless of this result, he was sure there would be another chance...
We’re told that never before has Ceret seen such a gathering of dog-lovers. They came from a wide area, some to compete, some just to watch, or introduce their own pet dog to some well-disciplined canines.
Saturday had not been so popular as the rain was on and off all day, but by Sunday afternoon, the area was teeming with people - and dogs.
There were donkey rides and a circus school for the children, as well as Florent and his accordion.
All in all, it was a lively occasion and, will no doubt be repeated. So, if you have an obedient dog, used to the show-ring, look out for future dog shows in Ceret. This first one was great fun!
