ENFANTS ET SANTE - fight child cancer and leukaemia
WHAT IS ENFANTS ET SANTE?
Enfants et Santé was created in 1998 and recognized as a charity in 2005, its aim to provide funds to fight and defeat cancer and leukaemia in children. Today, there are 11 affiliated regional associations. (more about the Catalan association in the future)
SOME FACTS
Cancer remains the 2nd leading cause of death in children from 0 to 15 years, the first being accidents in the home.
France is one of the world leaders in research and development of paediatric oncology.
The cure rate for children with cancer and leukaemia has increased from 30% in 1970 to 75% in 2005, due mainly to the development of clinical research.
THE ROLE OF ENFANTS ET SANTE?
The association aims to provide funding for the development of clinical and biological research for the 32 hospitals in France in paediatric oncology and support for machinery and manpower.
In order to do this, they….
- put together registers of information on sick children which can be shared nationally.
- organize events to collect donations
- inform and educate the public.
Their goal is simple. To achieve maximum healing with minimum repercussion.
