In a attempt to revitalize the declining fortunes of Girona airport since Ryanair left them high and dry, a budget of €10 million has been agreed in order to build a TGV station 2 km from Girona airport.

Technical studies and plans are to be finalised over the next few months, and the station is expected to open in 2017, with shuttles running  every 5 minutes between the station and the airport.
