Horse riding and pony trekking

If horse-riding is your weakness, the Catalan country-side holds some special treats in store for you. The beauty of the mountains trails, in contrast to the many dune areas on the coast provide excellent riding conditions all year round. You may wish for riding lessons, pony-trekking, or you may wish to plan a full holiday on horse-back, with itinerary, board and lodgings organised for you in advance. The region caters for all this and much more.

Meet Estelle

Estelle was born in Perpignan and has 15 years of horse-riding experience under her belt. She is an accompagnatrice de tourisme équestre meaning that she is qualified to take out guided treks etc, and a regular competition contestant. Her love of and enthusiasm for the region is only equalled by her love of horses! If you have any horsey queries, Estelle will set you on the right (bridle)track.

"The Pyrénées-Orientales is beginning to take off where horse riding is concerned, and offers so many possibilities, both for pony trekking and competitive horse riding. As a registered accompagnatrice de tourisme équestre, I would love to help you to discover the culture and the countryside of the department on horseback.

The horse is a noble animal, a perfect companion for rides, allowing the rider to take full advantage of the wild and savage terrain which characterises the Tech Valley, magnificent region surrounded by the Albères, and the Aspres , the introduction to the Pyrénées mountain range The diversity of this land, both rugged and steep, with narrow or wide track, follows the Tech river all the way through to the Mediterranean.

It is this diversity that forms the attraction of the

whole region, and in particular the Vallespir, allowing the equestrian to sample every type of horse riding activity, which he can adapt to his own needs. Trotting, galloping on tracks with ever changing scenery, technical or just chill!

Horse riding is a sport for everybody, from the beginner to the expert, from the young to the old. My philosophy is that anybody can do it! You don’t have to be sporty or have any particular skills - you just need enthusiasm, motivation, to respect safety and the environment and to enjoy.

Rides available:

short rides for the very young and the not so young to help them discover the feeling of being on horseback

 longer rides beginners with instruction

rides for the experienced rider, taking in all aspects of the sport.>

Why not try something completely different?

night rides to see the region in a different light

cultural rides combining horse riding with visits to touristic sites

a full day’s ride with picnic

If you have your own horse, maybe you need to stable it. I can provide you with board. Contact me me for further details
