International Carillon Festival

For the 10th consecutive year, the international carillon festival will take place this summer, from 19th July to 23rd August, opening up the “Jeudis de Perpignan”. These free concerts are held on the 46-bell carillon of the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, which is situated in between the église Saint-Jean-le-Vieux and the cathedral, in Perpignan.

For this 10th edition, every Thursday from 19th July to 15th September 2012, the International Carillon Festival of Perpignan proposes six concerts and a celebration about the film “A beacon in the city” directed by the movie-maker Olivier Moulaï.

Grab a table at the Loft café in place, in front of the cathedral, and listen to the bells ringing out.

Wim Berteloot, who received his diploma from the Royal conservatory of Gant and the Royal Carillon School “Jef Denyn”, is carillonneur, organist and choir director. Since 2010, he teaches the carillon art in Malines.

John Gouwens

In addition to his functions as carillon- neur, John Gouwens is organist and composer. His carillon compositions, many of which have received international prizes, have been published in the United

Francis Crépin

Carillonneur of Saint Quentin town hall since 1999, Francis Crépin studied under Jacques Lannoy at the French carillon school in Douai. He has recently been elected President of the French Carillon Guild.

Povl Christian Balslev
Carillonneur de l’Eglise Sainte-Marie de Svendborg Carillonneur au Danemark
Povl Christian Balslev is music master of Saint Mary’s Church in Svendborg. During the liturgical year, he assumes his functions as choirmaster, organist and carillonneur.

Margo Halsted

Carillonneur aux Etats-Unis
Margo Halsted is one of the rare women carillonneurs to have the honor of being in Who’s Who, which is proof of her notoriety in the world of campanology. In addition to her numerous functions, she is professor and consultant.
