Le Boulou bypass

Le Boulou bypass, originally started in 2007 and abandoned for a time, seems to be back on again. This link road between the RD 900 (Le Boulou Nord) and the RD 115 (Le Boulou Ouest) will pass under the motorway linking the vallée du Tech with the coast, and hopefully saving hours of traffic jams through Le Boulou for those heading into Spain or Céret way. It is now estimated that the bypass will be finished in 2010.
A temporary detour has been in place since the end of summer 2006, allowing you to avoid passing through the centre of Le Boulou, which is a major bottleneck, particularly in high season and rush hour. The signs for this ‘déviation’ are still not clear however, even after four years!. Coming from Perpignan, turn right at the roundabout (Netto/Intermarché) and left at the smaller roundabout, following signs ‘Nouvel Itinéraire….Vallespir - Espagne’ Up until now, it has been indicated by a banner on the roundabout.
