Language Tips
In French; we use a double negative to express NOT. Think of the two words NE….PAS as two slices of bread to make up a sandwich. The filling is the VERB of the sentence.

Where more than one verb is involved, the ‘bread’ goes around the first verb

An/année
Both mean "year," but they indicate different ways of looking at the year. In general (but remember there are always exceptions to every rule) “an” applies to the division of time (eg J’ai passé un an à Paris) whereas “année” indicates length or amount of time spent (eg il travaille à Perpignan toute l’année).
