Lakeside walk
Level: easy, completely flat and all off road
Time: Two possible walks of 30 mins and 2 hours
Recommended for: anybody. The shorter walk is pleasant and flat with a café in sight at all times for refreshment when heat exhaustion sets in! (beware: there is not much shade on this walk): the longer walk is also flat with more shade.
Where to park
Heading from Perpignan towards Porte d’Espagne/Le Boulou (via Auchan) follow signs for Villeneuve de la Raho. There is plenty of parking space when you arrive at the ’lac’ which you can’t miss, either on lakeside itself or across the road.
The walk splits into two
From the car park on lakeside, start walking around the lake anti clockwise.
Carry on walking around the lake (about 10 mins) until the path splits up with the longer walk going off to the right, and the shorter walk following the small leisure lake round to the left. Both walks will bring you back to where you started as long as you follow your nose!
This walk is particularly nice for families with young children as there are trampolines and water chutes at the beginning of the walk, plenty of places to eat and drink, easy parking and the lake is supervised for bathing.
